One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is always the European Christmas markets and the scent of vin brûlé drifting through the air.
In Italy, Christmas markets pop up in late November and December, with handmade gifts, roasted chestnuts, and mugs of steaming mulled wine. In Emilia-Romagna, they call it bisò — a regional tradition made with a good local wine, often Sangiovese (the same grape in our Good Clean Red).
It’s more than just a drink, it keeps you warm as you sip slowly strolling the markets. And yes, when you make it at home, it makes your whole home smell like Christmas.
You can make mulled wine with Good Clean Red, Good Clean Cabernet, or even Good Clean White if you prefer a lighter, aromatic version.
Each has its own personality:
Red gives rich warmth and classic Tuscan depth.
Cabernet adds structure and spice.
White offers a golden, citrusy glow for something unexpected.
Ingredients
1 bottle Good Clean Red, Cabernet, or White
2 tablespoons mulling spices (or 1 sachet)
1 cup Monin Orange Syrup (or your favorite natural orange syrup)
Optional garnishes: orange slices, cinnamon sticks, or star anise
Instructions
Combine wine and mulling spices in a medium stockpot.
Bring just to a boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer.
Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in orange syrup.
Ladle into mugs or heat-resistant glasses.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick or orange slice. Serve warm, and let the aromas fill the room.
